Q: What is your take on the new 2011 Toyota Sienna’s cheap, poor grade dash plastic? Why does toyota do this?
Looking at the all new redesigned 2011 Toyota Sienna, I noticed that the new design was very nice, and it is quite freshened up form the 2010 models– but I was left aghast at the horrifically cheap, hard, scratchy, bare unpadded dashboard, which looks nice from a distance, until you get behind the wheel. It is similar to the Venza dash, but is completely hard and unpadded much like Chrysler’s cheap interiors. Seeing it close up and touching it with your fingers or nails produces a hollow scratchy, very cheap tactile appearance and feel, and this plastic seems to permeate much of the interior of this $26,000 to $38,000 minivan. I am wondering what the logic of this is, since Toyota put so much redesign work into it with the hopes that it would compete favorably with the Honda Odyssey. Admittedly, minivan owners don’t get much in the way of class and style because of the vehicle type itself. And so the appearance of the interior is especially important. Why would Toyota put such repulsive plastic all over the dash board? I am simply amazed, and very discouraged, as I had hoped to buy one. But I couldn’t stand looking at all this cheap plastic for the next ten years! Can anyone recommend a minivan with higher quality interiors to that which has now become so typical of Toyota? …Thanks.

A: Frankly, I think the general public has overrated all Toyotas. They are not the product they used to be when they produce engines with double roller timing chains. I would rather get a Honda. Heck I’d buy a Dodge Caravan before I bought a Toyota Sienna. My dad drove a Dodge caravan as a work van for his business. He got over 400,000 miles out of it. The engine got rebuilt once and the AC was fixed once too. Oh, and it never was involved in a recall. It was an 88 caravan 3.0 V6. The original transmission never needed rebuilding either. He gave the van away to a close friend simply because he was tired of it.

Q: Need a new family vehicle to fit our growing family of 5?
Everyone says to go with a minivan, but I am really not ready to go from my Nissan Altima which is perfect for our family of 4 to the monster.
If we were to get a minivan, we would get a Toyota Sienna with the 8-passenger seating so that we can have all 3 kids (all of whom are 4 and under) in one row.
I really love the Toyota Venza though, and it should fit 3 carseats in the second row and has a decent amount of cargo room, more than the Altima, but not as much as the Sienna. If need arises in the future, we would sell my husband’s truck and upgrade to the dreaded minivan.
Another option is the new 2010 Toyota 4Runner which has a new 3rd row. We also have the option for 3 carseats in the middle, but no captains chairs like we could even with the 8-passenger Sienna.

My question is what would you do? Our third baby is due next month and so we are going to need the room very soon!

A: I would honestly just go all in for the minivan! I am contemplating getting one for a third family car just because they’re very convenient with small children. The Sienna is my favorite as well in the category due to it’s family-friendly options like the removable second row middle seat that you mentioned. With only the need for the two rows, there is an exceptional amount of cargo that surpasses that of any of the others that you have listed. Plus if you plan on having future children, your husband won’t have to part with his truck.

Q: I am a Realtor in Hawaii looking to buy a new car. 30k-35k Suggestions?
So far considering the Honda Crosstour, VW Tiguan, GMC Terrain, or the Toyota Venza. Any feeback appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Q: Are Toyota RAV4 good SUV’s?
I’m in the market for another car. I have driven a Toyota Camry for 10 year and I’m a very loyal Toyota customer. I want a Toyota Venza, but even the new ones are still very expensive.

I found a nice Certified 2008 Toyota RAV4 for a decent price with 34,000 miles on it. Its the Limited Edition model (4-cyl 4-Spd AT Ltd ). I had done research and for the most part it seems like a good choice. I have heard its best to go with the Sport or Limited Edition of the SUV models.

However, my mother being the worrier that she is–is concerned that these cars flip over too easily. I’ve never been a road maniac and go the speed limit so this is no racecar for me.

Any advice, please. Serious answerers only.
Someone also said it could be dangerous with the RAV4 having the spare tire on the back of the vehicle

A: Nope, run don’t walk in the other direction of ANY Toyota product.

Q: 2008 Nissan Sentra..good car?
I am pretty sure I’m getting an 08 sentra
I could have gotten the toyota corolla
or the honda civic..but my mom can’t afford it since
she’s going to purchase the new toyota venza
(they won’t give us a 2 for 1 deal =/ )
anyway…I’m 15 years old. new driver..1st car

I know that the sentra is a good car
but why wasn’t it mentioned in Consumer Reports????

also, theres about 20,000 miles on this used car
(used as a company car)
is it going to be hard to get a good resale price??

THANKS!!!

A: This car has a good resale value.

Honda has the best resale value and Toyota’s resale values are very good too so the Nissan is not as good, but still good.
The Civic is most fun to drive and best on gas.
The Sentra is better on gas than the Corolla and faster too.
The Corolla is slowest, least fuel efficient, and most boring to drive.

The Sentra is a good choice if you cannot afford a Honda Civic.

Q: Should i wash and wax my car now?
i just bought a new toyota venza last december 20 2008, but i havent had it waxed by my dealer cause i was afraid that they might make tiny scratches.. but now its been raining and it has been left outside for quite some time.. i have gather lotsa dusts and rain marks every where.. should i wax my car now? i mean will protect my cars finish better?
ok. yeah i know i have to wash it.. i have the nozzle for the hose so that will make good enough pressure to take care of the loose dirt. and wax.. im a wax it after i know. the question is, wont waxing hurt my car? considering its pretty mu brandnew?

A: NO WAY, First you need to get the car washed, but not with a bucket and sponge, you need to get it jet washed. This will help to get rid of the larger bits of dirt off the body work. After wards, get the buck and sponge and give it a good sponging down.
If you skipped the first stage, you would end up transforming you sponge or polishing rag into a sharp bit sand paper which increase the chance making those fine scratch marks in the paint. (A big thing if your car is black)
And finally………the wax will protect your finish for ’slightly’ longer then if you didn’t use it, some high Quality waxes actually repel water so it just slides off the car instead of just sitting on it.

Q: I’d like to buy and new car, and would like some input.?
I’m debating between a Toyota Venza and a Ford Escape. I’d like to know where I can get the biggest bang for my buck. With the Venza, I’m looking at getting a hybrid, if that will get me more government rebates because of it being a hybrid. Also, does anyone know about all the rebates and incentives for these cars, so I can spend the least amount of money?
Thanks!

Q: New Problems Occurring With Toyotas?
I am thinking of getting a toyota Venza this year but I am a little afraid of the problems that are occurring with their vehicles so should I stick with the toyotas or not?

A: The Answer all depends upon you….

If you listen to everyone else…they will just say NO DON”T GET A TOYOTA YOUR PEDAL WILL GET STUCK AND YOU WILL DIE……

Please just listen, Toyota isn’t bad….I will explain further on…

The Toyota Venza is a good car….well at least based on my driving experience (uncle owns it). The way the Venza rides is very managable and quiet wonderful. Some of the best things about that car is the way it absorbs shocks, it rides all the holes on the road like a king. The car is quiet roomy.

Performance: 7.6
Exterior: 7.8
Interior: 9.1
Safety: 9.9 (Ignore Toyota Recall)
Reliability: 8.0

Honda Pilot is another good car, not a bad choice, but to many other car reviewers, the Venza took them by a surprise. You will love the AWD, which is what we have, with a 6 cylinder,.

Q: Libs when General Motors starts building cars in China does that make GM a Chinese car company too?
The boondoggle Cash For Clunkers bill according to an Associated Press article from one hour ago “the limited information released so far shows most buyers are not picking Ford, Chrysler or General Motors vehicles, and six of the top 10 vehicles purchased are Honda, Toyota and Hyundai. “

So now you think Toyota is an American car company because Toyota’s “are built in America by Americans”?

So when General Motors build cars in China does that make GM a Chinese car company? By your inane logic.

I bought the fabulous new 2009 Toyota Venza AWD wagon with my free $4,600 from One Term Barry. Gee, thanks for the free money Barry.

The reality of the situation is people took the governments money and bought Toyota, Honda and Hyundai cars. Maybe that is why Barry is refusing to release the full set of figures for all cars sold under the boondoggle CARS law.

Who’s Barry?
LMAO
Attention liberals , yes my beautiful new $33,000 Toyota was built in Kentucky.

Does that make Toyota an American company? No, it does not.
I will never buy a shitty General Motors vehicle. Nitwits who buy according to their politics deserve to be parted from their money.
Democrats did not want “Buy American” they wanted “Buy American Auto Workers Union”

Big difference.

A: Liberals hate American cars.

Q: Libs do you need the British press to tell you Cash For Clunkers is dead?
Do you need the British newspaper Financal Times to tell you the truth, that Cash For Clunkers is finished?

Or would you rather have the fawning liberal press in the U.S. lie to you that the boondoggle Cash For Clunkers program was “a success” because the Democrats spent one billion dollars of taxpayer money in four days? And lie to you that another two billion dollars is on the way?

This bill is not going anywhere, there is not going to be an additional two billion dollars allocated. The Senate will not allow it.

Cash For Clunkers is being attacked from left and right. Senator Feinstein wants to require the new car to get higher gas mileage and also extend the program to “poor people” by handing out $4,500 vouchers they can spend like cash to buy a used car. Senator John McCain says the bill was a boondoggle to begin with and no way will he throw good money after bad: McCain will filibuster the bill in the Senate. And the House has already gone on recess so any changes introduced by the Senate cannot be reconciled before the Senate goes on recess.

I hope you took advantage of this boondoggle while it lasted, I did and bought a new 2009 Toyota Venza with Barry’s Cash.

Who’s Barry?
LMAO

A: The Financial Times is a very credible source.

Q: How does Cash For Clunkers help GM & Chrysler if most people bought foreign cars?
I bought a 2009 Toyota Venza AWD wagon with my free money from One Term Barry. $4,600 to be exact. Thursday night when I signed the deal, the Toyota dealer was packed, and when I picked up the new Toyota last Friday it was a zoo. The Toyota/Scion dealer only had 51 unsold new cars left.

” six of the top 10 vehicles purchased are Honda, Toyota and Hyundai. “

Obama administration withholds data on program

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D99S6M481&show_article=1
Why did transportation secretary LaHood say Cash For Clunkers is “the lifeline that will bring back the automobile industry in America.”

Most people bought Toyota, Honda and Hyundai cars not Chevy or Dodge.
I cited the AP news article from today that according to data released by the government, it is true. QUOTE: ” the limited information released so far shows most buyers are not picking Ford, Chrysler or General Motors vehicles, and six of the top 10 vehicles purchased are Honda, Toyota and Hyundai. “
OK So why don’t we rename it to the “Bigger Commissions For Toyota Salesman Act” and cut the pretense this is aiding bankrupt General Motors and Chrysler.
My Toyota Venza was built in Kentucky but that does not help GM or Chrysler any.
Notice people, I post SOURCES. An Associated Press article from one hour ago. And I quote the article verbatim.

A: okay, so 4 are made in the USA and the other 6 may also be made in the USA, right (think of that 80’s movie with Michael Keaton, Gung-ho).

Even if those 6 aren’t, they are sold by Americans working for American dealerships aren’t they?

I expect the GOP to roll over quickly on this one since most auto dealers are republican contributors.

Q: Used 2009 or 2010 Toyota Matrix or 2006 Camry?
I have been driving a 1994 Camry since 2000. It got me through college and some of my adulthood, but now its starting to show its age. Has 145,000 miles, leather seats are worn/torn, AC is done, and paint is fading/chipped. I lived in a small town so the only places I went were work, school, and around town. I moved after college into a big city and to get places, sometimes I have to drive over 20 miles so its taken a wear on the car.I live in the South and having AC in your car is a must. Its only May and its already crazy hot and it will only get hotter. I even avoid going to places I really want to go because of my worry of the car.

What I really want is a Toyota Venza, but I’m on a budget and so I have to get what I can at a good price and an affordable note. I am glad and thankful that the Camry lasted me so long, but it would be nice to ride in something more modern and looks good.

I found a 2006 Camry at a good price that is affordable which has 56,000 miles on it. Camry’s are known for being reliable cars and the one I have has given me little trouble at all until now. Its a certified Toyota vehicle and I know it will be relaible, but I have been driving a Camry for 10 years and would like a change. I doubt if it would need major work if I were to get it, but I’m trying to avoid paying a lot of money for tune-ups and maintanence when I buy the car.

I like the way the newer Matrix look and am looking at one of them in the S or XRS model. I saw a good one for a tiny bit more than the 06 Camry with lower mileage (16,000). I hear Matrix are great on gas and at this point, I’m just looking for something that is good on gas, gets me from point A to point B in this big city, has A/C for the hot South, and where I can visit my hometown (about 2 1/2 hours from where I live) more. I was looking at Matrix S and XRS models because from my research the Base models don’t have the best horsepower and the S and XRS ride better. I plan to test drive a Matrix and see how I like it. I’m 6′0 tall and sat in one at a carshow and I seemed to have pretty good leg room.

What do you think would be the best choice?

A: I’d invest in the Camry just because of the problems Toyota’s facing with newer models speeding out of control.

Q: Toyota..Why are they replacing the lush Camry Solara with the Venza, a station wagon?
My 1999 Toyota Camry Solara is the hottest car I ever owned (tho I don’t like the weaker newer models with the bumble bee eyes and wilted soppy rear.) Why do all the Toyotas today look like lineless bubbles with bazarr shapes? Most of them are UGLY. Will Toyota ever learn how to design a good looking car? Their Sienna mini van looks like a refrigerator on wheels with bumble bee eyes and a humpty dumpty face!

A: Nobody bought the Solara. It wasn’t that great a car just a 2 door Camry. A lot more people do buy cross over vehicles like the Venza.

Q: compact SUV with excellent rear visibility?
we are looking at buying an suv, something fairly small. the problem with a lot of them is that rear visibility isnt very good at all. we have considered getting an suv with a rearview camera, and we probably will if the price is right, but we dont want to have to rely on it. some of the suvs we are considering are ford escape, the new hyundai tucson, toyota venza, nissan rogue and vw tiguan. out of those, and any others you can recommend, what do you think offer the best visibility? its hard to go out and test drive them all. thanks

A: You must try the Nissan Xterra 4×4 (starting price 21,000) This suv is made for both on road and off serious off road. The xterra ranks forth in off road 1. hummer 1, 2 hummer 2, 3 Toyota fj cruise and 4th the xterra. All other 3 have very bad visibility. The Xterra has awesome all around visibility and the rear sets set higher then the front (called theater seating) so the passenger is not just looking at your head, but can see road. It has rear locking differentials and front, this means when you switch a switch on the dash it will lock you rear so you do not slip back when having to take foot off gas, down hill is the same it will only let you go as fast as you have the gas it will not gain speed. Comes with rack awesome looking and very functional. Blisten gas strut front independent suspension. smooth ride on the road with almost no cabin noise, yet This is also a serious off road rock climber and mud swamping. ave 17 mpg I have a 2008 and STOL love it what you get into it will get you out. Has a 5000 pound tow rate and 1270 pounds cargo in side. This is a must to look up on e net and test drive one. 5 star rating on side, front and roll over. 6 c. 4.0cc awesome goes 140 well get you to 60 fast and has a good stopping range. The suvs you mention are not true 4×4 you do not have a choice of high 4×4 or low 4×4. What they are calling suv is a switch that says 4×4 but it just transfer rear power to front wheels losing 1/2 the power in the rear drive, some kick out at 20 mph hyundai tucson is one, tiguan gets worse gas miles and is not 4×4. I don’t know about the rest but have test drove those. Nissan Xterra for your money you can see all around and there is a back up cam in rear view mirror.
