Q: What is the song in the 2011 Subaru Forester commercial?
It sounds kind of like The Tossers or The Pogues.
A: Pogues. If I should fall from Grace with God. Sweet song
Q: How many gallons of gas does the 2010-2011 Subaru Forester hold?
A: off hand i believe its 15.9 gallons. check the manual tho or ask the dealer to know for sure. the 2010 2011 subaru legacy and outback have 18.5 gallon tank
Q: When will the 2011 Subaru Forester come out?
A: It is expected in dealer showrooms September / October 2010.
Q: what are the advantages of the DOHC subaru forester engine?
the 2011 2.5L engine is an DOHC, compared to the older SOHC engines pre 2011. are there any major advantages with the DOHC? it isn,t more powerful, unless you spring for the turbo version. subaru is only offering it for foresters, and not for outbacks.
A: Interesting comeback for the dohc after 12 years of being away. I am sure it is redesigned and Subaru definitely is making better head gaskets now, so it sounds like it will be soon introduced across the line (Foresters/Imprezas are made in Japan, so many innovations are introduced in that line six months or a year before it finds its way into Legacy).
Advantages? Less reciprocating mass, lighter weight thus higher revving, more accurate valve control. All this can lead to VANOS type valve control, and I have a hunch this is where they are heading. VANOS is a constantly varying valve opening system which leads to more power and efficiency/economy.
Q: Transferring a Tow Hitch from ‘08 Forester to an ‘11?
I have a class II Draw-Tite installed on my ‘08 Subaru Forester. The lease ends on my current car in November. I’m curious to know if my current tow package would still fit a 2011 Forester or did Subaru change the frame?
A: It will still fit,.
Q: Will LEDs work with daytime running lights on a resistor?
I have a 2011 Subaru Forester with daytime running lights. These lights are a single filament 9005 bulb. They operate as the daytime running lights and the high beams. A resistor is used to dim the lights when the high beams are not on. I would like to replace these lights with LEDs. Would 9005 LEDs work? Would I loose any functionality?
A: You’ll have to check with the manufactorer of the led’s. They are designed to run off of a single voltage for the lights. If the voltage is cut; chances are the lights will either not work or still run at the same brightness. They do make some with a dual switch that recognized a change in voltage and only powers part of the led’s. Check before you buy.
Q: Will this year’s model be cheaper than next year’s – Subaru Forester?
The 2010 Forester is a completely remodeled version of the Forester and we’re definitely interested in it. Should we wait to buy it until August/September of this year when the 2011 models come out, or buy it anytime we want to since the 2011’s are not going to be significantly different from the 2010’s so Subaru may not offer incentives on the 2010’s when the 2011’s arrive? Any ideas? Thanks.
A: I don’t know what stricter laws the guy above is talking about. The new 35.5 average MPG law passed but does not go into effect till 2016. As far as which you can get cheaper, that just depends on how hungry the dealer and sales man are for a sale. Subaru is just about the only maker that has reported record sales many months in the past couple years. In this economy when everyone else is going bankrupt, that’s pretty amazing. The 2011’s should be the same car as the 2010. The game I would play is to show interest in the car but then tell the sales an you want to sleep on it and maybe even wait till the 2011’s com out. If the guy is desperate to make a sale, they will do whatever it takes to keep you from leaving or waiting very long. Go to all the area dealers, let them know what you are looking for, leave your contact info and leave. Let them do the work and eventually you just go with the best price.
Q: Good Price? a 1998 Subaru Forester, 58K miles, great condition – all for $6,500?
more info: Green 98 Subaru Forester L, 58741 original miles, 4 cylinder 2.5 engine, automatic, roof rack, all wheel drive, factory AM/FM/Cassette stereo, cruise control, fully loaded, cold A/C, dual front airbags, all power, factory alarm, new tires , registered until April 2011, smogged, non smoker.
Let me know if this sounds like a good deal, my current 2002 forester (from new england) i did not take great care of
, it’s at 92K miles and needs work, so I’d rather put it into a california car with lower miles.
A: You have just described my car, with a hundred thousand fewer miles on it.
Mine is worth $3500 or less. I would offer $5,000 if the body is still in good shape, but have it checked out mechanically before you buy.
Q: Toyota Sienna (2011): does interior lock button set the alarm? Can it be configured to beep that alarm is set?
I am the new owner of 2011 Sienna XLE with Nav pkg (keyless entry, etc, etc.)
So far I love it but I have one nit….. On my 2003 Subaru Forester when I am exiting the vehicle, and I press the interior power lock button (door is open at this time), all the locks actuate (to locked position). This is the same with the Sienna. But on the Subaru when I close the door it gives me an audible beep/flash to let me know the alarm is set. The Sienna does not do this.
•Is the alarm set on the Sienna when I lock it in this fashion?
•Is there a way to change the programming so I get an audible confirmation like on the Subaru
I already know about how to lock it from the outside by “pinching” the driver door handle sensors…and I that way I *do* get the audible confirmation, but I would like to get the same using the interior power lock method.
A: There is a way to solve both your problems.
Use the Keyless entry. It locks the doors and sets the alarm.
Why are you locking the doors from the inside before closing the door if you have Keyless entry? That’s the whole point of the remote.
To be honest I don’t think that just locking the doors, sets the alarm. I’m pretty sure that you have to activate it with the Remote. Otherwise if you were to lock the doors while you were in it (key not in the ignition) it might go off.
Q: Car decision question?
Hello! So here’s my predicament. I have off of school (don’t know why) in exactly 3 weeks from now. Monday and Tuesday are off. I’m in all IB Honors Classes (hardest courses in 10th grade in my school), have never gotten anything less than a B. I’m also on the crew team, marching band, concert band, Zoom club (charity club), and Odyssey of the Mind (problem solving team). I’m not trying to brag, but I think I’m a good student. I try hard. Anyway, my mom said that since I am working my behind off, she would take me and her dad (was a mechanic) to go car shop on the two days that I’m off in three weeks. I have about $2,000, but she is willing to lend me money and I will pay her back over a while (she says I don’t have time for a job during the school year). I will be 16 soon, and my parents both have larger SUV’s, which I can NOT drive. My dad wants me to take his 1996 Toyota 4Runner so he can get a new car. I decided to try it out the other day in a parking lot… Resulted in me backing up into a pole (couldn’t see out of back). Woops… So that car is out of the question. I am considering: 2011 Toyota Yaris Sedan, 2006 Volvo S40, or a 2008 Subaru Impreza (basic/cheap trim). I like these cars because they are relatively good on gas and have many safety features like side airbags that my dad’s car does not. Which car should I get? Or maybe I could compromise with my dad to have him get a new Forester (I have driven my grandfather’s and I can back up in it) and I could just use that? He wants a new car as much as I do, but I would be willing to sacrifice. What should I do? Thank you so much!! Have a good day!
A: Lets put it this way. You backed into the pole because of YOU, not the car. It has a back window and your dad seems to drive it just fine.
If your parents are fine on spending the money and your willing to pay them back(probably 5+ years down the road) than you have lots of options for a car.
It would be worth it for you to buy a consumer reports buying guide for cars and look at the cars within your price range. I can tell you that if I was in the market I would be buying a 2005 Honda Civic EX Sedan with low miles for about $10 grand. Best car for the money if your looking used.
The volvo might not last as long as you would like. The impreza is a great car but unless you need AWD you will lowe MPG because of it. The Yaris would be adequate but you can get a much nice used car for less.
