Q: When will the 2011 Kia Optima be for sale in the States?
When will I be able to buy this car on the East Coast?

A: They started being shipped out early this fall. So they are already out, just hard to come by.

Actually…the kia optima has a horrible interior whereas the sonata has a better interior.

Which “American” car has a nice interior? As far as I know they’re still using chintzy plastic in most of the chevys and fords. Maybe the Alabama Benzes have a nice interior but those aren’t available for under 20k like the optima and sonata. Cheap car=cheap interior…that’s where the company building them will save money.

in Fall of this year, 2011 Kia Optima will be released. It is totally redesigned, and looks way too different from 2010. The interior and exterior seem to mimic lexus — almost like carbon copy. But the 2010 kia optima already looks good too and has 100,000 mile warranty. So is 2011 optima more advanced and improved? Dealer said that when 2011 optima is released, the 2010 optima will be discounted and price reduced. So should i wait for 2011 optima or buy 2010 in fall (since its price will be reduced then)?

A: mimicking a lexus interior/ exterior should not be the motivating factor, neither should a push button start. That 100K warranty isn’t all its cracked up to be either, read the fine print and you will see. The fit/ finish of the materials and what they are made of will let you know its cheap. I attend the detroit car show yearly, so it easy to see Kia still lags behind in the quality dept compared to other manufacturers.

Kia are most commonly known as disposable cars, they break easy, dont really last as long as you want and you toss them out after a few years.

You would be better off taking your limited budget, thats why you’re looking at kia in the first place, and getting a good used car from a more established brand.

look at that, they could put an acura badge on it for sure and no one would notice its not a real acura lol.

A: i like it fine, but the new Sonata is just as good looking. i must admit i do like the sportier styling of the kia, however. some may like classier looks of the Sonata

i think the new Tuscon looks better then the kia Sorento. and the coming Elantra should look sleeker then the Forte. all in all i would say the styling is different, but not “ahead.”

both are doing better then certain competitors, however. which is remarkable for hyundai and even more so for kia

OK, now that I’ve made my sarcastic remark, let me answer your question. Why are you considering a Focus with those other two? Have you looked at the Ford Fusion? it competes much better with the Sonata and Optima and, if I were you, it’s the car I’d buy. I would take a Ford over a Hyundai or Kia any day, better quality. I really think Ford is tops in quality now.

ok i go to community college here in new jersey where i live. Im in my first semester, however, i want to move to california to lve with my aunt and finish community college out there and then go on to a 4 year school. Im extremly close to my aunt, she lives in orange county and ive visited a 100 times all my life. Im flying out there in 3 weeks for christmas to discuss this further with her, i believe she will let me. I wouldnt move there until september 2011. I have a 2008 kia optima, its paid off. I have a few thousand saved up while i would look for a small petty job to pay for personal expenses like food, gas and clothes. This is something i beleive im ready for, im ready to move out my parents house and ive always wanted to go to school in california. My mom is gonna argue with me so bad when i tell her my plans, she doesnt want me to move to california, she wants me to stay in jersey. My dad will support me when i tell him my plans and goals. I mean when she was my age, she was already married and pregnant with me, cant get more grown up than that. I have nothing holding me back but myself, no kids, no girlfriend, only education, what to do?

A: you should do what you think will make you happy. your mom is just looking out for you and wants what is best for you. she is probably aware of the fact that millions of people flock to california each year in search of a better life, beautiful surroundings, beaches, nice weather and the possibility of being famous. unfortunately the reality is much different. unemployment in california is at 18%, an all time high, right now and the reality is there are too many people in california for the amount of jobs available. very very few get discovered and many women end up becoming prostitutes, strippers, or end up in dead end jobs staying in crappy apartments . you cant really enjoy the beauty of california when you are working 60-80 hours a week to pay your bills. the cost of living is at an all time high also. i suggest you save up more than a couple of thousand dollars before you go and realize what your expenses will be ahead of time. save save save. good luck!

Q: What is a reliable, good looking, sporty sedan for a 16 year old guy(used)?
I’m looking for a sporty looking sedan. The budget is around $10,000 and I’ve looked at the Kia Optima but the new one(2011) is too expensive. It is a good example of what I am looking for. It might not be the most reliable car, but you can get a good idea of what I want it to look like. At the moment I’m looking at a used 09 hyundai sonata. They aren’t too sporty but I think they look pretty nice and have all the features I want. Any thoughts?

A: well, the Kia Optima isn’t exactly sporty(trust me). it doesn’t have much power, it’s heavy, and the suspension is like marshmallows. i’d say find an older Civic Si 4-door or even an Accord, they have good power and the handling is a lot better than the Korean cars. they also have a much, much longer lifespan than the Sonata.

A: 1. Bite the bullet and talk to her. Parents can surprise you sometimes. My brother has the same problem- after I went away to college my mom didn’t want him to leave- so he goes to a college in that city- he’s 20 too. But when he went to Georgia Tech for a semester as an exchange student, they did encourage him to stay- he decided he didn’t want to because of his girlfriend, but they still encouraged him to do what he wanted.

2. If your father is okay with it, talk to him first. Maybe he can help convince your mom to stop holding on.

3. Your parents seem to love you a lot. I don’t think they will cut you off. And they’re allowed to worry- they gave birth to you, have seen you grow up, have wiped your cuts clean and taken care of you when you were sick. They have that right. So don’t let that make you angry. Hold your ground, but don’t be mean about it. None of this – “I don’t care if you cut me off, I have my own money/can take a loan” crap.

4. Let her know that you love her, and that she won’t be losing you as a son, but she needs to start to let you go, because even though you will always be her little boy, you need to become your own man. And tell them that you want to make them proud, and you need to move forward if that is to happen.
