Q: When will the 2011 Ford Explorer be released to dealers for sale?
I know Ford unveiled the Explorer, but I read it should be out by now. I haven’t found one at a dealer near me, and they’re still advertising the 2010 model as the main Explorer. So, does anyone know when the 2011 will take the place of the 2010?
A: They are in production just outside of Chicago. Just contact your dealer and have them call you when they get one. When a new production line is started, they limit their numbers as they fine tune and tweak the production line. This gets the assembly workers acquainted with new tasks. Plus dealers far away take longer to get their first cars. Many dealers are limited to how many they can order per month. Some will only get 1 or 2 between now and Dec.
Q: Song in the new ford explorer commercial 2011?
I heard it today I can’t understand any of the words but it sounds awesome. Yea but its in the 2011 ford explorer commercial
A: Go Do – Jónsi
definitely that song ^_^
Q: 2011 Ford Explorer – 4wd vs FWD?
I am looking into the 2011 Ford Explorer because I need a vehicle that has 2nd row bucket seats. There are two options: 4wd and a front wheel drive. We live in Chicago where there is a fair amount of snow and will not be towing anything or driving off-road. Is there any reason why a family in our situation should be spending the extra money on 4wd? I can understand if the alternative is RWD, but what about with a FWD version? Thanks!
A: Hi Pat,
I’m from Chicago too, and completely understand your situation.
For the most part, although we get snow, it is rare that we are driving in deep snow. The snow plows are usually out during the few bad storms that we get. So we are normally driving on freshly plowed streets. 4WD does nothing for you on slippery surfaces. Thats when you need/want the ABS and the Traction Control.
I have had 4WD vehicles and quite frankly I almost never had to use the 4WD.
The new Explorer with FWD will also have ABS and Traction Control which will be sufficient for 99% of your needs.
If it costs $2500-3000 for the added 4WD feature, and you only use it once a year… that averages out to about $500 (plus interest) a year for a feature that you may only use once a year.
Hardly worth it, as far as I can tell.
The other thing to consider though, is resale. The 4WD adds value, and it also adds more prospective buyers when it comes to resale time. For some reason, everybody always *thinks* that they are going to HAVE to have 4WD and that its better.
I disagree, but I have been in the business long enough to know what customers *think* they need.
So, if you are planning on keeping it a long time, I wouldn’t spend the extra money. After the vehicle is 8-10 years old, you won’t recoup much of the money that you spent now anyways.
The FWD w/ ABS and Traction Control will be fine for you.
With a 5 year loan, that added $2500 (for the 4WD) would amount to about $50 a month. You have to ask yourself if it’s worth it. For me.. I would rather spend $50 a month on something that I will need and use every month.
^That’s my 2 cents.

Q: 2010 Ford Explorer or 2011 Ford Expedition?
I am 16 years old, and I want an SUV. I want one thats strong and is capable of going offroad and towing. I also want the best gas millage i can get
A: The Ford Expedition will have a much greater towing capacity than the Explorer. The Expedition, is off-road capable, but is quite large to maneuver through tight trails. In order to use off-road, you would need 4WD capabilities on either.
The Expedition is only available with 8 cylinder motors. These are mid and large sized SUVs and neither will get great gas mileage.
Q: Can you put a 2011 5.0L in a 97 5.0L Explorer?
I have a 1997 Ford Explorer 5.0L and was wondering if I could drop a 302 from a 2011 Mustang in it? its 2wd also with a 4speed auto. W/OD
A: Everybody is right, the engines are completely different and it would cost a small fortune to do that.
And it would take an extremely experienced shop to figure out just how to do it, so you better win the Lotto, cause thats what it’s going to cost. On the other hand that 5.0 in the Explorer is one of the best
5.0’s Ford ever put in anything, with the exception of the Cobra Mustang. The Explorer motor is almost a copy of the Mustang Cobra engine with few differences. Yours has either GT40 or GT40P heads, roller block, GT40 style upper and lower intakes and it’s an H.O. engine. If it’s the GT40 engine it also has an oil cooler and factory headers. If it’s a GT40P engine it doesn’t have these things, but those “P” heads are the very best, even Mustang Cobra’s didn’t get those. You’re very lucky and many guys would love to have your engine. Rebuild what you have when the time comes, those engines are the very best. And with little work will deliver some very serious horsepower. They are already pretty strong right from the factory. Doing anything else would be a total waste of money and a big headache, I think you would be very sorry you ever tried it. Good Luck!!!
Q: What’s the difference between bi-functional projector beam halogen headlamps and HID headlamps?
In many websites of cars like ford I see bi-functional projector beam halogen headlamps and HiD head lamps but , I’m confused , tell me if I’m right , bi-functional projector beam halogen headlamps is ( like a ball , that is next to a halogen headlamps like on ford focus ) , and HID lights is the same , like a ball but more powerful, brighter and durable ( like on BMW X6) , right ? If not explain and give details , please . Because I want to purchase the late coming 2011 ford explorer XLT but I want. To know if it comes standard xenon headlamps . 10 points who ever responds .
A: the HID would be brighter like the BMW X6 and they tend to last a little bit longer.
but when they do go bad they cost a lot to replace
Q: do car values on existing models drop greater than expected when a new model or styling is introduced?
I’m looking at used Ford Explorers as a possible new (used) car and would like to know whether, based even on anecdotal evidence, the value of the last round of models/styling drops greater than would otherwise be expected when a new model is roled out. Example I have in mind: 2002-2010 Explorers have consistent styling, while the 2011 represents a fairly significant aesthetic departure from the existing models.
Thanks!
A: Absolutely. A redesign almost always hurts the value of the previous generation. There are rare instances in which the previous gen has a following and remains sought-after — i.e. the Scion xB “toaster” vs the newer milk wagon.
Q: What car should i get?
I want something that will get me to point a to point b with a lot of comfort for 5 people. Where i could go to the snow or the beach and not have to worry about a thing. Something under $25000 new 2010 or 2011
I’m looking at either a
Jeep Patriot
Ford Explorer
Nissan Xterra
Gmc Terrain
Chevy Camero
Honda Civic
A: For the snow or beach, definitely go with a TOYOTA PJ Cruiser or Honda ELEMENT. They are extremely reliable and provide enough room for your snowboard or surfboard.
Q: which of these cars is the best deal for the money?

Q: Quick question about trading in my car…. Please help me.?
Me and my mother basically got screwed 3 years ago (i didnt know what i know now) when we financed through a bank (dont say their name) at 18.2% interest on an auto loan that doesnt mature for another 3 years. So, we’re talking 2005-2011 for an auto loan at 18.2%. The car is a 2002 Ford Explorer XLT, which retailed at around $18,000 when we bought it. Now, I’m stuck paying 459 dollar monthly payments on a USED car that’s 6 years old now. What are my options? we have about $17,000 or so dollars left to pay on the auto loan. I tried to go to a credit union and get my auto loan refinanced, but he told me they cant refinance it at more than what it’s worth (my car is valued at 10 grand right now) My auto loan from the bank has a buyout of 13 grand right now. Should i just try to trade it in at the dealer and plead with them to refinance my loan too? I mean, the montly payments are 459, we send 500 dollars to them every month and it’s on TIME every month. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!
A: Pay extra every month on the car until you get it paid down to a buyout amount that the credit union will refinance.

Q: 20 year old male. What car should I get? $20,000 or under?
I’m 20 years old and i currently have a 93′ ford explorer. Its a V6 and it’s not helping me on gas. I need a 4 cylinder so it helps me going back and forth to college/work. I am looking for a new or almost new car for $20,000 or under sometime around spring of 2011. I enjoy customizing cars so thats another consideration. Right now Im thinking about a Nissan Altima Coupe or a 2012 Ford Focus Sedan. If it was your choice, which one would you pick? Also, what other cars would you suggest for a male college student? Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
To answer your question…..i’ve been putting money away in the bank since i was young. I just got another job in august. Going from $7.60 from my job before and now to $12.75. If I didn’t get that job, then i wouldn’t be able to get a newer car for that much. I’d actually prefer $19,000 or less so it’s more affordable.
A: how about a civic coupe? im sure you can find a new 2010 below 20k.
Q: What is a good first car for a 16 year old?
I am turning 16 August 15th and My dad is buying me a car , I was wondering what is a good car to buy? I am thinking about a Ford explorer 2007, Or a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2007, or a Dodge Charger 2007. I don’t really want a small car unless its a Dodge Charger or something. Which car of the three do you think will be better? I NEED HELP!! If you know the price that will be nice too. Most likely I will get a pre-owned car no older than 2007. Money won’t be a problem I don’t really want a brand new 2010 0r 2011 car that is just unnecessary. Thanks! (:
A: Explorer
jeeps are unreliable, the charger has poor visibility

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.deep-ice.com
Q: What do you think of the 2011 Ford Explorer?
http://www.newzfor.me/news/69565528.aspx
I think they ruined it
A: It’s about time! While I’m not crazy about the new design (looks like a Flex from the front, a Sequoia from the side), I’m glad to see Ford attempting to regain their title. The Explorer used to dominate the US market. Now only people who don’t bother to research end up getting the Explorer. To the other answerer who said they ruined a classic: who wants to buy a 2011 classic? Ford should have never let this platform become so stale.
